Tampa Youth Basketball and Stretching
As a Tampa youth basketball player, stretching may not be something that is at the forefront of your mind. However, it is something that should be incorporated into your training as early as possible. By being able to practice a quality stretching routine, you will be able to help prevent future injuries and also help to promote physical development.
The Types of Stretching for Tampa Youth Basketball Players
When it comes to stretching, there are hundreds and even thousands of different stretches you can do. You can focus on the upper body, lower body, a combination of both, or a specific isolated muscle. When it comes to “types” of stretches though, we are going to focus in on two different ones. The two that we are going to focus in on are dynamic stretching and static stretching.
Let’s talk about dynamic stretching first. This is the type of stretching that you are going to use before a basketball workout, practice, game, etc. This type of stretching is going to involve a lot of movements as you are getting lose and warming up. It will help get your joints loose and allow you to get your body moving full speed safely.
The second type of stretching that we are going to focus on with our Tampa Youth Basketball Players is dynamic stretching. This type of stretching is going to be stationary and will really help with improving a player’s flexibility and helping to prevent stiffness after activity. As a player, if you are looking to make yourself more flexible, this is the type of stretching that you are going to focus on. It is also something you can do while watching TV or really anywhere you have a flat open space.
The Importance of Stretching Conclusion
Stretching should be a non-negotiable when it comes to your personal basketball training, and it is something that our trainers consistently focus on with our players. The great thing about flexibility is that with the right emphasis, you can always improve at it. So whether you are already naturally flexible, or not to spend some time working on it, if you are willing to commit the needed time to it, you will be able to become more flexible.
