Homeschool Basketball Training in Tampa

Homeschool Basketball Training in Tampa

There are many positive reasons to homeschool your kids. Whether it is for more family time, better education, style of learning, or whatever it might be, homeschooling is becoming a popular schooling option for parents. As a homeschooler myself all the way through high school, I know this better than most.

I also know the importance of making sure to develop in as many ways as possible outside of the home as well. As a homeschool family, you know how important it is to be learning new things and continuing to develop real-world knowledge. I believe that sports is an excellent way to do that, and more specifically, basketball. The things that young men and women are able to learn through sports can be priceless.

Also, if a homeschool basketball player is passionate about playing, they should be given a chance to excel and continue to pursue the game that they love. That is where Tampa Basketball Training comes in. We want to offer homeschool basketball training in Tampa to all levels of basketball players, and allow for kids of all ages to pursue being their best as a basketball player.

My Personal Homeschool Sports Experience

As I briefly mentioned earlier, I was homeschooled from kindergarten to my senior graduation. I was fortunate enough to be able to play sports at a private school as a homeschooler, and this ignited my love for the game of basketball. From here, I was able to play in college and ultimately professionally, and one of the most significant advantages I had growing up was that I was homeschooled.

After finishing my school work, I was able to go spend a lot of my free time playing basketball and working on my game. My schedule as a homeschooler was a lot more flexible than my public school and private school friends. This meant that I was able to spend valuable time working on my game that they didn’t have.

This is one of the reasons I am so passionate about working with homeschool basketball players in Tampa today. I want to encourage homeschoolers to not only pursue basketball, but to excel in it as well, and I want to give them the tools to do so.

Daytime Basketball Training Hours

One of the best things about Tampa Basketball Training is the flexibility that we offer our clients. When it comes to homeschool basketball training in Tampa, we offer weekday hours during the school day that fit your schedule. So whether it is early afternoon or maybe even in the morning as a small group basketball class, we can accommodate.

Set Up a Homeschool Group Lesson

If you have other homeschool families in the Tampa area that might be interested in basketball training lessons, invite them to come along, and we will be able to offer you a group discount. We will keep the groups small enough to make sure that individual attention can be had, but training with a few friends is always an excellent option. This will allow for a fun, competitive environment for players participating in the training.

We are also able to accommodate multiple age groups at the same time as we are able to adjust the difficulty level of most basketball drills that we offer. So if you have a group of various ages or skill levels, we can still make sure to provide a basketball lesson that will benefit all players.

Physical Education

If you are looking for a way to get physical education credits, our basketball training lessons could be an excellent option. From learning the basics of basketball to helping players master different skills, we provide all levels of training that could double as Physical Education class for a semester.

At Tampa Basketball Training, we are able to customize or training lessons specifically for our clients. This means that we can design classes for professional athletes, as well as beginners that are simply wanting a better understanding of the basics and rules of basketball.

Also, with many of the basketball drills being able to be adjusted according to skill level, our classes allow for multiple ages and skill levels to attend at the same time. So if you have a group of kids that vary in ages and skill levels, we are able to accommodate your needs accordingly.

Fun and Meaningful Learning Environment

When it comes to learning the game of basketball, we understand that skills are important, but we also know that it is still a game and meant to be fun. Our goal, with all of our basketball training, is to make sure that we are creating an environment that encourages learning for all types of players and skill levels.

This is especially true when it comes to youth basketball training in the Tampa area. We want to make sure that we are creating a fun and meaningful learning environment for kids. One that encourages kids to work hard, but also helps them develop a long and lasting love for the game of basketball.

Confidence Through Sports

One of the reasons we are so passionate about homeschool basketball training in Tampa is because we know what sports can do for a kid’s confidence. From my personal experience as a homeschooler, I know how much basketball helped me with my confidence and getting out of my shell to meet new people. So not only are we here to help with your child’s basketball development but also their social and character development as well.

Take-Home Basketball Drills

At Tampa Basketball Training, we are firm believers in homework. Our goal is to provide the tools for basketball players to be able to work on their game throughout the week. That is why we regularly send players home with different basketball drills that they can do on their own. We teach players how to train themselves and how to work hard even when no one else is around.

Homeschool Basketball Training in Tampa

There are so many benefits to being able to homeschool your kids and to make sure that they are getting the education that you think they need. However, there are also a lot of responsibilities that come with homeschooling. One of them is making sure that your children have the same opportunities that other kids have. And while we can’t help you in all areas, we can help with all of your basketball training needs.

If you have a child, regardless of age, that enjoys basketball and wants to potentially play on a team or even in college down the line, allow us the opportunity to help them on their journey.

Tampa Basketball Training – Being Hard to Guard

Tampa Basketball Training - Being Hard to Guard

Training to Be Hard to Guard

What player doesn’t want to be a better scorer or add more value to their team on the offensive end of the floor? However, this doesn’t just happen because a player wants it. If a player wants to become a better scorer and harder to guard, they must be willing to not only put in the hard work basketball training but spend time working on the right things when they do.

At Tampa Basketball Training, our players will work on all of the different offensive areas that they need to be successful. We will focus on more than just scoring as well though. Because a big part of being hard to guard is not just scoring, but also being able to set up teammates.

So here are some different areas that Tampa Basketball Training players will focus on in our workouts.

Train to Play at Different Speeds

This is a big key, especially when handling the basketball. Too many times, players think that they need to be fast, faster, and fastest, but really, they need to work on being able to quickly accelerate and decelerate. The better a player is able to change up their speeds, the more the defender will be off-balance and not able to anticipate a player’s moves. At Tampa Basketball Training we spend a ton of time working on changing pace and being able to pause the defense before blowing by them. Outside of ball handling, this is also key when cutting, sprinting to set screens, using screens, etc.

Train to be a Multi-Dimensional Player

The more a player is able to be well-rounded, the harder they will be to guard. For example, if a player is able to shoot it well and also drive well, they put the defense in a very tough situation. On the flip side, if an offensive player struggles with certain areas of their game, the defense will do their best to force them to that weakness. That is why we focus on developing complete players at TBT. We understand that players have specific roles and need to spend more time working on specific skills, but it is also important that a player doesn’t have glaring weaknesses.

Train and Learn How to Read the Defense

As an offensive player, it is vital that you are able to read the defense before making a move. If you don’t read the defense, you are asking for trouble and most likely will not have any space to execute your move. Whether it is a cut, dribble move, shot, etc. it is going to be important to read the defense and how they are guarding you. This comes with practice, but it is also something that needs to be explained and emphasized. At Tampa Basketball Training we spend the needed time breaking down when, where, and how to use different moves based on what the defense is doing. This is going to allow players a better understanding of each move and how to maximize that move.

Look to Score Within the Offense

When you look at the highest percentage shots, you will see that most of them come within the offense. They happen off of hard cuts, spacing the floor, off of a quick reversal, etc. So the better a player can learn to score within the offense, the harder they will be to guard. That is why when we work with Tampa basketball players, we spend so much time working on game-specific moves. We teach players how to score within the offense and how to maximize high percentage scoring opportunities.

Tampa Basketball Training – Hard to Guard Conclusion

As you can see from this article, it is not just one thing that makes a player hard to guard. It is a combination of different factors that must come together if a player wants to be a multi-faceted threat on the offensive side of the floor. If you would like to develop all of the different areas of your game and turn yourself into a player that is hard to guard, please make sure to set up a training session with us.

Tampa Youth Basketball and the Importance of Stretching

August 20, 2019 by Tampa Basketball

Tampa Youth Basketball and Stretching

As a Tampa youth basketball player, stretching may not be something that is at the forefront of your mind. However, it is something that should be incorporated into your training as early as possible. By being able to practice a quality stretching routine, you will be able to help prevent future injuries and also help to promote physical development.

The Types of Stretching for Tampa Youth Basketball Players

When it comes to stretching, there are hundreds and even thousands of different stretches you can do. You can focus on the upper body, lower body, a combination of both, or a specific isolated muscle. When it comes to “types” of stretches though, we are going to focus in on two different ones. The two that we are going to focus in on are dynamic stretching and static stretching.

Let’s talk about dynamic stretching first. This is the type of stretching that you are going to use before a basketball workout, practice, game, etc. This type of stretching is going to involve a lot of movements as you are getting lose and warming up. It will help get your joints loose and allow you to get your body moving full speed safely.

The second type of stretching that we are going to focus on with our Tampa Youth Basketball Players is dynamic stretching. This type of stretching is going to be stationary and will really help with improving a player’s flexibility and helping to prevent stiffness after activity. As a player, if you are looking to make yourself more flexible, this is the type of stretching that you are going to focus on. It is also something you can do while watching TV or really anywhere you have a flat open space.

The Importance of Stretching Conclusion

Stretching should be a non-negotiable when it comes to your personal basketball training, and it is something that our trainers consistently focus on with our players. The great thing about flexibility is that with the right emphasis, you can always improve at it. So whether you are already naturally flexible, or not to spend some time working on it, if you are willing to commit the needed time to it, you will be able to become more flexible.

Tampa Basketball Trainer – Finding the Right One

August 20, 2019 by Tampa Basketball

Looking for a Tampa Basketball Trainer?

When it comes to finding the right basketball training in the Tampa Bay Area, there are a few different factors you should take into consideration. The better you are able to qualify what you are looking for, the better you will be able to make sure you find what you are looking for.

So here are a few tips that you should focus on, and areas that we believe that we excel in at Tampa Basketball Training.

Tampa Basketball Trainer Tip #1: Must Understand the Game

If you go online and search for basketball trainers on YouTube or Instagram, your screen will be flooded with a large spectrum or trainers and an even larger number of different basketball drills. And, while there is a ton of information out there, it doesn’t mean that every trainer that puts a player through a drill has a great understanding of the game. When it comes to learning different skills and moves, you need a trainer that has an expert eye and is able to point out different tips and keys for executing different moves. You also need someone that is going to be able to explain when and where a specific move should be used.

Tampa Basketball Trainer Tip #2: Has the Ability to Communicate with Players on Their Level

Just because a basketball coach or trainer has the information in their head, doesn’t mean that they will be able to get that information to the player. At Tampa Basketball Training, we pride ourselves in our ability to communicate with all levels of players. Also, different players learn in different ways. Some players may learn better through sight, sound, walking through it themselves, breaking down the move first, etc. So it is important that a trainer finds a way to communicate with each type of player.

Tampa Basketball Trainer Tip #3: Is Able to Challenge and Motivate

The same way that players learn differently, is the same way that some players need to be motivated differently. This is going to be key in the growth process of a player because the more a player is motivated, the more they will want to work on their game. The trainers at Tampa Basketball Training take a personal approach with getting to know players and what motivates them. This approach allows us to challenge and motivate each player uniquely.

Tampa Basketball Trainer Tip #4: Grows the Player’s Basketball IQ

Having the physical skills to play is a big part of the game, but almost equally important is the player’s ability to think the game as they play. Players need to be able to understand the game and have a high basketball IQ so that they know when and where to use different moves. At Tampa Basketball Training, we stress this in every workout that we run. We also take the time to explain why, when, and where a specific move should be used. We believe in developing complete basketball players, and that means spending the needed time developing a player’s basketball IQ.

Tampa Basketball Trainer Tip #5: Understands Each Player’s Personal Needs

Not every player has the same skill set, and that means that they shouldn’t all be put into a cookie-cutter workout plan. Yes, there are skills that will benefit every player, but there are also skills that will help specific players more than others. That is why we gear our workouts around specific needs for players, especially in our one on one private basketball training sessions.

Looking for a Tampa Basketball Trainer Conclusion

At Tampa Basketball Training we strive to give our best in all of these areas as well as a few others. So if you are looking for an expert basketball trainer in Tampa, make sure that you give us a try and make sure to take advantage of our complimentary first workout session.
